Objava v IRDO e-NOVICE

... and a new beginning :)
Related to country: Slovenia

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

New academic year, new beginning, new field of voluntary work.

Let me first clarify that being a volunteer doesn’t mean working without being paid as I many times hear people trying to convince me. Being a volunteer is to devote ourselves – our energy, time, knowledge and joy – to a field we are interested in. It doesn’t necessarily need to be working with the elderly or children, nor does it show a form of compensating our own boring lives through listening to other’s traumatic experiences.
For me, being a volunteer is to offer a smile to a person, it's to listen to a friend in need and it's to chat to a lonely person we meet on a train. In this sense we are all volunteers whenever we do something for the other without considering what we get in return and when it will pay off (possibly in the form of €…). But some people, who’s friends have not enough need for our generous listening, tend to spread this circle of charity… joke :) What I want to say is basically that volunteering can be infinitively creative and fun for we can act in whichever field we prefer.
I shall leave the discussion that the same altruism guiding us is basically only a form of egoism and a way to find our place in this world for another occasion…

The new field of work that I’m currently getting to know and starting to act in is violence against women (and children), a very complex and interesting field that still needs a lot of input.

To end this post I’ll repeat a well known but never out-of-date thought:

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” Mahatma Gandhi

Peace,
Tina

Kaj je politika

Noro!

Why social network Ecademy works…

I have tears in my eyes. What an amazing post by our new friend Tina.

This is pure example, why Ecademy works and why Slovenian people should be proud of our country. As well as proof that being internationalize is something really cool.

Once again Tina, mange tak

Ecademy Events : I feel S LOVE enia

by Tina Jonasen #6BlackStar on 29-Sep-08 2:20pm

I really DO…………

I am not even sure how long time I have known Andreja Lajh online - or how we met for that matter (but I´m beginning to think that it must have been “faith” wink

She is simply such a fantastic woman and super networker, that I couldn’t not resist going to the No Limits Network Meeting in Ljubljana/Slovenia when she invited me !

I had never been to Slovenia before - but I can tell you that I WILL SURELY GO AGAIN !!!

Andreja is organising another No Limits Network Meeting, which I already signed up for - but I have a feeling that I will be back before that wink

As said in another blog, and in total agreement with another member that I met there for the first time; Freddy Daems

- I am still “with my head in the clouds” from those FANTASTIC 4 days that I spent in Slovenia = Simply one of my best little holidays ever, and without doubt the BEST Networking event EVER (the whole trip) - let me tell you why…………….

It started the day before my departure;
A FaceBook connection contacts me, after I wrote in my status that I was going to Slovenia - and said that he was going too.
It showed that there was a whole group of Amway people who was going for a big event there.
Result = Great New Networking Contacts!
They even took my picture - thus giving me a memory on my first “landing” in this beautiful country;

On the plane there was a big article on Bled in the in-flight-magazine, so I was lucky to arrive well prepared to my trip there the same day - full of knowledge about their very interesting history through times.

After landing, in 30 degrees sunshine (made me almost miss my beloved Spain again) I was kindly picked up at the airport by a new member of Ecademy; Ranko Pesic

whom also had invited me to stay in their house, as I was to spend time with him and his wife during my stay - but more about that later.

He then took me to Bled, where we saw that beautiful old castle, the museum and astonishing lake area - all simply breathtaking !!
Even if its a tourist attraction, and there was actually quite a lot of people - I already there felt the friendly calmness of this beautiful country - and totally forgot all about the stress of the workload that I had left behind at home (and almost the guiltiness of leaving my dogs home alone sad

After that we had a very special local dinner near the airport - which was soo Big, that I could only eat half - and left me wondering why the Slovenian people are not obese at all :-0)

I then had to rush to his house to have a quick shower - and off to the Network meeting.
On the way around Ljubljana, one thing that I noticed was that all the cars seem brand new.
I later learned (and read via Google) that Slovenia is actually one of the former Ex-Yugoslavian´s riches and most well organised countries - embarrassing, but I actually didn’t know much about the country before my arrival (but then again; the country didn’t exist when I went to school - does that count ?)

Anyway - arrived at the meeting, in this adorable Café Evropa 1900 hours sharp - and was greeted by Andreja.
Finally I got to meet this beautiful woman + and her “Co-Leader” in the WEST MEETS EAST - Your Gateway to Europe Club; Geert Conard - you know the man with a “Girlfriend in Every City” (whom I had waited just as eager to meet IRL).

I was also greeted by 2 new friends; Ziga Vavpotic, and his sweet & adorable Monika.
They even meet me with a wonderful gift; “My Very Own Book” - which is simply a MUST for everyone who cares about their mental health and self-development = SIMPLY BRILLIANT
These 2 young wonderful people I am sure we will see much more of, both in Ecademy and the rest of the business scene in Europe!!

(this is NOT Monika - but Penny saying thanks for her “My very Own Book” wink

A funny little thing to show you how small the world really is;
after I came home, one of the Danish Amway people that I had met in the plane on my way to Slovenia, also had gotten “My Very Own Book” (which they had sold on their meeting in another part of the country).

Then (I almost said of course wink my dear, dear friend Victor (”Wine/Olive Oil Star” Marques) from Portugal was there in the door - with a big hug and a glass of his own great wine….

………as was our beloved “Parents”; Penny & Thomas of course - always giving a Big Welcome Home Hug (no matter where in the world we meet).

We had a great evening, with wise words from both Geert and Penny - in a fantastic atmosphere created by Andreja + all the new Slovenian friends - what a lovely people !!!

Next day turned out to be one of the best travel days of my life - I am soo grateful to you Andreja - for arranging such wonderful events for us! And 2 in one day = soo many wonderful impressions that it took a while for it all to sink in!

First we went to the town of Zemono to the famous chief Tomaž Kavčič in his simply adorable restaurant Gostilna Pri Lojzetu. Andreja said that he is known as the 4th best chief in Europe - but I am not sure about that !
I think his maybe one of the best in the whole WORLD - I have seldom had such a fantastic meal - with the most wonderful decorations, followed by the nice local wines, and presented by a most entertaining Maitre D = ***** in my book !!!

Then we drove on, in a nice big bus - where we had the chance of more 121´s (like from the beginning of the day) - until we got to The Fonda Family Fish Farm - WAUU
We were welcomed by Irena Fonda (now a new Ecademy member of course wink who then took us out on their brand new boat, to see the actual Fish Farm, and how they are feed by hand (loving hands I might ad - the family really loves their fish - wish we got to taste a bit later).

It was a little bit cold and wet - but I had brought Danish Aquavit - to help us get warm again at the following dinner wink
That took place, it seemed to me, in a private home (never really realized if it indeed was a public restaurant - because it simply had the feeling of a home).

Back home in Ljubljana, I was picked up again by my new friend Ranko - who drove me straight home to bed - to rest for another Very Exciting day!
Here is where they took me………..

First we had to catch the horses, who lives out side all year - in this Beautiful countryside - and then we had a great long ride, Ranko some of his friends and me - wonderful !

It had actually dropped more than 20 degrees in temperature since the first day - but what a fresh mountain air - wauuu what a glorious day

Again - I didn’t have ANY problems falling a sleep, after yet another GREAT day of wonderful happenings!!

Monday, I had to leave this beautiful country - but not before spending just a little bit of time in the capital Ljubljana - where I got to do some real good shopping in a little, very special, shop called Gorgeous. They sell this great design called; “De Puta Madre 69″ - a well known Spanish expression used when something is Really Good (but directly translated do not sound very nicewink - Highly recommended !
I got myself a nice pink (my favorite “menopause” color) T-Shirt with the words; Rich Bitch - just to celebrate my decision, and acceptance from our Bosses - to become the future City Leader of The Kingdom of Denmark - but about that in another blog wink

Off to the airport - Hasta la Vista to my new friend Ranko (with a little tear in the corner of my eye) - totally “burned out”, but could hardly stay awake in the airplanes - if it wasn’t for all the wonderful impressions of the last few days that kept me awake.

Surely Slovenia and all my new friends there - as Arnold says;
I´LL BE BACK - SOON!!!

Kepanje

Ta vikend smo se kepali. Končno me ne bodo najprej kepali preko elektronske pošte. Prhitel sem vse.

Vikend je bil nepozaben. Miren, v znamenju dobre družbe in kart.

V taki pozi sem redko. Vendar je bilo izjemno. HVALA Monika. Hvala Aljoša in Anita.

Although new Madonna's CD repeats itself (all the music on it is almost the same) this song isn't so bad, especially because of the lyrics. Listen to it!

Pomagajmo Ugandi

Zbiranje poteka do 1. novembra 2008.

In zakaj tak naslov?

In bi imeli Rock and Roll Slovenijo.

In kaj pravi Janković? (Spet!)

P.S.: Gospod Bajuk, nasvidenje! Povem po pravici - ne bom vas pogrešal.

Dvorec Zemono, gostilna Pri Lojzetu in ribe Fonda

Včerajšnji dan je minil v dobri družbi.

Program je obljubljal popolne gurmanske užitke.

An exclusive program on Saturday is here for those networkers who are interested in exclusive Slovenian enogastronomy based mostly on the best fresh fish. Due to limited number of places priority will have guests coming from abroad.

Saturday trip will start at 10.30 with the bus in front of the hotel, which will take us to Zemono, near to Vipava, where at 12.00 the star chef Tomaž Kavčič will spoil us with a very exclusive luncheon and with selection of the best Slovenian wines - this launcheon will be composed of aperitive, many courses - each with specially selected wine, and will last about 3,5 hours.

After the luncheon we will continue our trip with bus to the seaside - the coast near to Piran - and will be able to experience an unique attraction (I have to thank for this to the chef Tomaž Kavčičwink - to visit the Fonda family - the family who dedicated herself to cultivation of healthy food. The family Fonda, whos members are all biologists, is particulary famous for their cultivated sea-bass which became a well known brand. Family Fonda feeds their fish by hand (only with the best food) for four years before going to market. Since they control the feeding, their fish can have 13 times less mercury than wild fish.

The Fonda family will take us for a boat-trip to the sea and will prepare a fish BBQ with their fresh sea-bas and excellent wines of the region.

Late in the evening we will return by bus back home.

The package includes:

- the exclusive luncheon (Tomaz Kavčič is one of the best european chefs!)
- BBQ (dinner)
- all drinks (at lunch and BBQ)
- bus
- boat

Zemono, gostilna Pri Lojzetu. Simfonija okusa.

Vendar sta Andreja in Tomaž uspela. Popolnoma. Sapo jemlje celotna zgodba. Kvaliteta, profesionalnost, izjemnost. Predvsem pa zgodba družinskega podjetništva. Kako zaradi ljubezni do družine in podjetništva dr.
